I've just seen Dil Se, a musical that is rumoured to have inspired (partly, I suppose) Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge. It's a tragic love story of a mysterious girl and an innocent journalist. There's the subject of terrorism again (Rang De Basanti, Fanaa, Mission Kashmir, anyone?). Not a typical Bollywood movie as many scenes were filmed in Kashmir, Buthan and other non-Swiss locations. Fantastic cinematography. And the soundtrack? Well, it's A. R. Rahman. I don't think he has ever written anything less than outstanding. Five songs, five jewels.

Feb. 4th, 2007 08:17 pmFanaa means "destruction". I have this exam on Tuesday. I have been trying to study, to revive my long-forgotten knowledge of American literature - mostly unsuccessfully. Hence, I am awaitng my fanaa on Tuesday.
Anyway. The film is a pretty mainstream romance with not entirely realistic plot but superb performance from both main actors (Kajol and Aamir Khan) and really charming music.

Now, back to postmodernism.
